NOLA Doughnuts Celebrates One Year in Portland's Pearl District
NOLA Doughnuts Gifts 200 Free Doughnuts
NOLA Doughnuts, the family-owned, New Orleans-rooted doughnut shop, is celebrating their one-year anniversary in the Pearl District. They’ll be saying “thank you” to Portland by gifting 200 free doughnuts of a special anniversary flavor on Wednesday, April 24.
Leading up to the anniversary, NOLA Doughnuts is holding a popular vote, letting their fans decide between two original flavors: Peach Bourbon with toasted pecans and ricotta, or Blueberry Ricotta with white chocolate glaze and toasted almonds (pictured below). The voting starts today, Wednesday, April 17, on NOLA Doughnuts’ Facebook (@noladoughnuts), Instagram (@noladoughnuts) and Twitter (@noladoughnuts) accounts.
On April 24, 200 doughnuts of the winning flavor will be given away starting at 7 am, to the first 200 people at NOLA Doughnuts’ Pearl location (110 NW 10th Avenue).
Following next week’s anniversary event, the special flavor will be available at both of NOLA Doughnuts’ locations, in the Pearl and Lake Oswego, through the end of May.
NOLA Doughnuts fills a niche in the city’s dynamic doughnut landscape with their signature square La’ssant Doughnuts, offering a complex, layered and rich alternative to the traditional ring doughnut. A meticulous, 72-hour process is involved to make NOLA’s signature La’ssant Doughnuts, which are available at two locations in the Portland metro area, as well as Zupan’s markets and seasonally at farmers’ markets in Portland and Beaverton.
“New Orleans is rooted in food, family, and community,” said co-owner Connie DeMerell. “We hoped to bring that trifecta to Portland with NOLA Doughnuts. This anniversary celebration is our way of thanking the community that has welcomed us with open arms,” she continued.
